CROS Hearing Aids is an offshoot of Pocket Hearing. We started Pocket Hearing during Lockdown 1 as a reaction to what the future might hold for us as owners of a traditional independent hearing centre in Liverpool. The whole audiology industry had shut down and we didn’t know if or when we’d be opening the doors again. Being a resourceful bunch, we set about building a new hearing company that could still provide an excellent hearing care service but all online and via telecare. Pocket Hearing was born.

To keep things simple, we focused on a one-size-fits-all approach. We knew people generally preferred discreet hearing aids and behind-the-ear styles were not going to cut it with masks. As independent hearing care providers with access to every hearing aid under the sun, we instantly knew that Signia Silks were the obvious solution. We also knew that this new innovative approach to selling hearing aids was going to bring the prices down massively.

What was unexpected was that our satisfaction rates would be even higher than in the traditional hearing centre business model. The other thing we didn’t expect was the amount of CROS system customers we attracted. It was crazy, but it totally made sense. CROS and BICROS systems are actually quite easy to set up (when you’re an expert!) and sell online. The control via the app really helps as does the self-learning AI and finally, the new price point opened up a market that simply wasn’t there before.

For clarity and in recognition of all the people with single-sided deafness who may not have historically had the professional focus they deserved, we created CROS Hearing Aids. As CROS Hearing Aids is part of Pocket Hearing Ltd, 30% of all company profits are put aside to help people without access to hearing care. Buying a CROS system from CROS Hearing Aids will significantly go towards helping someone less fortunate have a better hearing future.
